Hello, my name is David! My family and I emigrated from South Africa to Canada in late 2012 for a better life. We settled in Hamilton, where I spent most of my childhood. I’ve spent the past two years as an active member of my school community, volunteering at Peoples Church and working part-time.
 
I graduated from Bishop Tonnos Catholic Secondary School in 2022 and am currently studying Nursing at McMaster University to get my BScN. I hope to work in the healthcare field for a long time and make a positive impact on people’s approach to their health, helping them live their best lives.
 
It is an honour to be a part of the Youth Council and have the opportunity to approach the issues concerning youth to improve their quality of life. My role on the Council will be an Incarceration Focus concerning today’s youth, researching and reporting on findings regarding youth incarceration. I believe that this is one of the crucial issues that many youth face today. Through the findings regarding youth incarceration, we can better address and provide solutions that will help the youth in our community have better outcomes in their lives.
