On Friday, May 24th, Liberty For Youth hosted our 1st Annual Liberty For Youth Golf Tournament in honour of our 20th Anniversary, serving over 1000 at-risk youth. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, the event raised $16,399 towards our $20,000 goal! The tournament took place at the historic Beddoe Course at Chedoke Golf Club. The weather was perfect for the tournament, and the golfers had a great time participating in the 18-hole scramble, as well as various specialty competitions such as closest to the hole, longest putt, the longest drive, and Beat The Pro competition against Kelly Rudney, a 3-time Canadian Long Drive Champion. The winning team finished with a score of 64!
During the ceremony and dinner portion of our event, 13-year-old, Isaac, a Liberty For Youth participant shared about his journey with Liberty For Youth and how our mentoring program has helped him with his schoolwork and basketball skills. “At the Liberty for Youth New Year’s Eve Party, I won the pizza eating contest and used the $100 prize bursary to get surgery for my cat”.
The ceremony also included a 50/50 raffle and prize table, where our guests won various prizes donated by our generous sponsors, including Eliegante Hair Design, H. Williams Jewellery, Chedoke Golf Club, Bird Kingdom Niagara, Disciple Christian Motorcycle Club, Puddicombe Farms Winery, Molly Cake, The Keg Steakhouse + Bar, and Albatross Indoor Golf Centre.
